Friday September 23, 2022 – Opening Night Presentation
1) 7 PM ET - ‘Shiv Shastri Balboa’ (2022), Directed by Ajayan Venugopalan, 2hrs 6 minutes. Cast: Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Jugal Hansraj, Nargis Fakhri, Sharib Hashmi.
Synopsis - Shiv Shastri, a retiree from India, and a big Rocky movie fan moves to USA and ends up on an unexpected road trip through the American heartland which teaches that it's never too old to reinvent yourself.

2) 2 PM ET – ‘Mabrook’ (2021), 14 minutes (SHORT FILM), Directed by Asad Farooqui, Cast: Asad Farooqui, Nasim, Manahar Kumar, Naveen Gurnany
Synopsis - It's Eid. At a chaotic party, where the men talk politics and the women gossip, two acquaintances share a secret.
3) 2:14 PM – ‘The Salon’, 13 minutes (SHORT FILM), Directed by Nitya Misra, Cast: Sudha Belawadi, B. Suresha, and Eric Leivang
Synopsis - Often, a haircut is not just a haircut. Women get haircuts for various reasons – maybe for a change of style; or for a noble cause; or sometimes it could simply be because of boredom. In “The Salon”, Nimmi, a middle-aged woman, strikes up a conversation with her hairstylist, and works through a loss while getting her haircut. Through the course of a haircut, this short film explores both the conversations we have with others and with ourselves.
4) 3 PM – ‘The Umbra’, 1hr 45 minutes, Directed by Karthik, Cast: Karthik & Team
Synopsis - Shot extensively in Atlanta GA, the movie explores the dark past of a promising young man who wants to be an actor. The movie cast is predominantly based in Atlanta.
5) 5:15 PM – ‘Gray’, 30 minutes (SHORT FILM), Directed by Sakshi Gurnani, Cast: Shreya Dhanwanthary, Diya Mirza, Chatanya Sharma
Synopsis - Gray’ is a story about Naina (Shreya Dhanwanthary), a 20-something girl whose best friend violates the boundaries of her consent. With the help of her therapist, Dr Noorani (Dia Mirza), Naina takes a journey between past and present, to learn how to deal with her feelings and her trauma, and clearly define for herself the meaning of ‘consent’.
6) 5:45 PM – ‘Bad Egg’, 28 minutes (SHORT FILM), Directed by Mehak Jamal, Cast: Sheeba Chaddha, Zoya Hussain, Akshay Oberoi, Jim Sarbh
Synopsis - Zoya receives a disturbing call from her mother – her sister Zara has gone missing during the pandemic. Surprisingly, Zoya isn’t rattled enough. She’s hiding something, all of which leads back to the fateful night of a party. Throughout the film, Zoya interacts with her surroundings as if she’s re-calibrating to them. As the plot unravels, so does she. In this story, appearances can be very deceiving.

Synopsis - Lost is an emotional social thriller that represents a higher quest, a search for lost values of empathy and integrity. Inspired by true events, Lost is a story of a bright young woman crime reporter in her relentless search for truth behind the sudden disappearance of a young theatre activist.
